That’s why we provide quality sun protection for kids to our clients.
Did you know that Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world?
Cancer Council Australia reports that 95% of melanomas (the most deadly form of skin cancer) are caused by sunburn. And what’s scary is that on any given summer weekend, 8% of children in Australia get sunburnt.
To make matters worse, kids have lower levels of melanin in their skin than adults, making them more susceptible to sun damage. That’s why it’s crucial to prevent sunburn by dressing appropriately and applying sunscreen.
Include a broadbrim hat in your childcare centre’s uniform. Hats with large brims that wrap right around the head will reduce the level of UV exposure to the neck, ears, and face. And you can make them fun by purchasing bucket hats branded with your childcare centre’s logo. Learn more about our bucket hats.
Apply a 30+ SPF broad-spectrum sunscreen to kids at least 20 minutes before they are due outside to play. For best results, reapply every two hours.
A play space with a mix of natural (plant) shade and man-made shade will help reduce UV exposure by up to 75%. While shade does decrease chances of sunburn, other sun safety precautions must still be taken.
Adding a bucket hat to your childcare centre’s uniform is an excellent way to prevent sun-related health issues in the future. Our child’s bucket hat comes in 14 colours, and includes an elastic sizing band and toggle for a comfortable fit. If you’re ready to order, give us a call on 1300 362 300 or send us an email.
